Under the Radar, bourbon cocktail

This comes under the heading of “when you have spirits, make a cocktail.” Replacement of a radar unit delayed our flight’s departure from Houston for London Cocktail Week. While waiting we read United’s Business First menu. Hey, we thought, let’s create a drink recipe from what’s onboard. Herewith the first of our truly airborne cocktails. It could only have been done with the gracious support from the cabin crew of United Flight 921.

Under the Radar Under the Radar rect
1 1/2 ounces Jim Beam Devil’s Cut Bourbon
1/2 ounce Disaronno Amaretto
Lemon wedge
Chilled soda water

Fill a tumbler or old-fashioned glass with ice cubes. Pour in the bourbon and amaretto, squeeze the lemon wedge over the drink and drop in the glass. Stir. Add a splash of soda and stir again.
