Bayou Flyer, tributary cocktail

One difference between Louisianans and Texans (and there are so many) is how they pronounce bayou. Is it “buy-you” or “buy-oh?” It’s always best to ask if you are not sure. But do be sure to make this Bayou Flyer with a lighter style bourbon whether you’re on the east or west side of the Sabine River. (Which brings up: Say-bine vs Suh-been…)

Bayou Flyer Bayou Flyer square
2 ounces of bourbon
1 ounce fresh orange juice
1/2 ounce creme de cassis
2 dashes Peychauds bitters

Add all the ingredients to an ice filled mixing glass. Stir until thoroughly chilled. Pour over ice in an old-fashioned glass. Garnish with an orange twist.

Tasting notes: A long-lasting aromatic old fashioned for people who don’t think they like bourbon.

Tomorrow: Is that your minnkey?
