Jägermeister gets a hard rap because of its association with, as the British say, “anti-social behaviour” among younger drinkers. Matched with gin in a cocktail with a drop of mint, Jägermeister finds a redeeming social role in this drink.
Waldini
1 1/2 ounces gin
1/2 ounce dry vermouth
1 teaspoon Jägermeister
1/4 teaspoon mint syrup
Put all the ingredients except 1 mint leaf in an ice-filled cocktail glass. Stir evenly for 15 seconds. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Rub a mint leaf around the cocktail glass rim, drop leaf in the glass.
Tasting notes: Martini zing with doubled pop from Jagermeister and mint.
Tomorrow: Buenos Dias.
