Gu Brath, Scotch cocktail

In the U.S., you can not buy or consume alcoholic beverages until you are 21; but you can vote when you’re 18. In Scotland, where they will vote on independence today, you can buy and drink beer, wine or cider and vote at 16. In celebration of which, and with apologies in advance, we offer this verse:
PM Cameron went north to speak on the heather
“Not long for me, but British Scotland forever”
The Queen, of course
While out on the gorse
Said “I’ll be the Queen whatever.”

Gu Brath Gu Brath vert
2 ounces of blended scotch
1/2 ounce creme de banana
3 ounces chilled sparkling wine

Place several ice chips in a champagne flute or wine glass. Pour in the scotch and creme de banana. Stir. Top with the sparkling wine.
