We are living in times of potentially great political change. We are speaking, of course, from the cocktail perspective; we are speaking of the Sept. 18 vote on Scotland’s independence. As the date nears, let us lift a glass with what may become a pricer commodity: Scotch whisky.

2 ounces blended scotch
1\2 ounce Grand Marnier
1\2 ounce dry vermouth
Pour all the ingredients over ice into an Old-Fashioned glass. Stir.
