While it seemed difficult enough finalizing this recipe, creating a name was harder. We’ve been playing around with shrubs and wanted to bring a citrus flavor into a bourbon cocktail. Use our shrub recipe, substituting 4 cups quartered clementine for the strawberries.
2 ounces of bourbon
1/2 ounce Southern Comfort
3/4 ounce clementine shrub
1 1/2 ounces sparkling water
2 dashes Angostura bitters
2 mint leaves
Pour all the ingredients and the mint leaves into a cocktail shaker with several ice cubes. Shake vigorously for 20 seconds. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish a floating mint leaf.
Tasting notes: Warmth of bourbon lifted by fruit and balanced with bitters and mint.
