There are several different Poker cocktails. Some list sweeteners in addition to the rum and vermouth. We find this pared-down recipe allows a better appreciation of both original ingredients. You can vary this mix by substituting different vermouths: Dubonnet Rouge or the Italian-made Ramazzotti, for example.
Poker Cocktail
1 1/2 ounces light rum
1 1/2 ounces sweet vermouth
Pour all the ingredients into a cocktail shaker with several ice cubes. Shake vigorously. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with an orange twist.
