Fresa Andina, pisco cocktail

We return now to South America, scene of the 2014 World Cup. This time we peer west over the Andes to Peru, home of pisco. The food markets seem well stocked this year with reasonably-priced strawberries from Mexico and California. In the name of frugality therefore, we have created this summer and soccer tribute.

3 ripe strawberries, washed and trimmed
2 ounces pisco
1/2 ounce lime juice
1/2 ounce agave nectar

Muddle strawberries, lime juice, and nectar in a cocktail shaker. Add the pisco and several ice cubes.
Shake vigorously for about 30 seconds, the longer the better. Pour through a fine-mesh sieve into a chilled margarita glass. Garnish with a lime wheel.

Tasting notes: Great strawberry flavour with balance from lime and agave.
