Welcome to Negroni Week, a celebration of the gin, Campari and sweet vermouth cocktail created more than 100 years ago. During this week we’ll offer different riffs on the traditional drink, and other Campari-influenced cocktails. To start, we’re going for something completely different — a martini-like recipe. We used Moody June gin from Bone Spirits in Smithville, Texas, balanced it with Aperol, a milder bitter also made by Campari, and dry vermouth.
Say What?
1 1/2 ounce dry gin
3/4 ounce Aperol
1/2 ounce dry vermouth
Pour all the ingredients into a mixing glass with several ice cubes. Stir evenly for 15 seconds. Let it stand for another 10 seconds. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with a lemon slice.
