This drink is also called “Joy to the World,” though we doubt it is a reference to the Christmas carol. Give it plenty of time with the ice, not to weaken the drink, but to get the three ingredients working together. An aged rum works well in this. We used Railean Reserve XO Rum from San Leon, Texas. This strikes us as a fine after-dinner drink.
1 1/2 ounces dark rum
1/2 ounce bourbon
1/2 ounce creme de cacao
Pour all the ingredients into a mixing glass half filled with ice. Stir evenly for 20 seconds, then strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
