Black rums, so named for their darker colors, are usually longer aged, giving them more flavors and stronger hints of spices than lighter or golden rums. Three black rums you could use are Captain Morgan, The Kraken or Gosling’s. Choose a not-from-concentrate, 100% cranberry juice.
4 ounces cranberry juice
1 ounce black rum
1 teaspoon simple syrup
Pour ingredients into an ice-filled highball glass. Stir to combine and chill.
Tasting notes: Cold bite of cranberry, followed by warm spice.
