Professional soccer in the U.S. has been gaining a larger audience each year. No better example of US men’s soccer’s growth and fan devotion can be found than on the Houston Dynamo pitch. The team color is orange and this liquid tribute includes, with the muddled rosemary, a little taste of the playing field. Goooooooal!
Go Dynamo
1 1/2 ounces vodka (Try some Texas-made Dripping Springs Vodka.)
3-4 rosemary needles
1/2 teaspoon simple syrup
3 ounces freshly squeezed orange juice
Muddle the rosemary needles and syrup in an Old Fashioned glass. Just use three individual needles, not a sprig or larger amount; the rosemary adds complexity and a hint of spice, yet too much will overwhelm. Add ice and pour in vodka and fresh orange juice. Stir thoroughly to chill. Garnish with an orange peel twist.
Tomorrow: Would Joe Friday drink this?
