Brunch Breeze – an easy spritzy cocktail

Fritz! A Spritz, please!

Swilling down hammer-heavy alcoholic brunch drinks can blur the rest of the day. Lighter and easy to consume, this wine-based mix goes well with a range of weekend brunch options from Eggs Benedict to smoked salmon and cream cheese on toasted bagels.

And this is not where we pull the cork on a $25 bottle of Chardonnay; a less expensive white with a touch of Chenin Blanc would be nice. Save the Chardonnay for poached-salmon-with-hollandaise luncheon with your boss.

Brunch Breeze
(Easily serves 4 for brunch)

1 bottle moderately dry white wine, chilled
1/4 cup pineapple juice
1/4 cup orange juice
1 pint soda water

You’ll need a 2 quart pitcher. Pour all the ingredients into the pitcher, fill to the top with ice cubes. Stir gently to thoroughly combine and chill. Serve in champagne flutes or wine glasses, and dress it up with an orange twist.
