David Alan writes a cocktail column for the Texas Monthly and is the author of “Tipsy Texan: Spirits and Cocktails from the Lone Star State.” His book contains some refreshingly novel takes on cocktails, particularly this liquid celebration for Valentine’s Day. If you are a chocolate lover, look elsewhere.
1 1/2 ounces vodka
1/2 ounce absinthe
1/2 ounce raspberry syrup
3/4 ounce pineapple juice
1/2 ounce lime juice
Pour all the ingredients into a cocktail shaker with several ice cubes. Shake until thoroughly chilled. Strain into chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with a raspberry, if you wish.
