Do not confuse this drink with the previously posted Texas Two Step. This cocktail name refers to the way some Lone Star state drivers drive. Here’s how it works: The sudden break to exit must be made while traveling at no less than 60 m.p.h., at least 2 lanes to the left, and no more than 50 yards from the freeway exit. No turn signals permitted. While this is a violation of the state’s traffic codes, and possibly God’s laws, its use is easily explained: “It’s Texas, son, and man’s got to do what a man’s got to do.”
Texas Two Lane
1 1/2 ounces Fitch’s Goat Whiskey Bone Spirits
1/2 ounce maraschino liqueur
Pour the ingredients into a mixing glass with several ice cubes. Stir to combine. Strain over ice into a lowball glass. Garnish with a peel of Texas Ruby Red grapefruit.
Tasting notes: Grapefruit balances the liqueur, adding pepper to the craft whiskey.
Tomorrow: Bourbles
