Looking back over the past weeks’ recipes we do notice a preponderance of white spirits (gin, tequila, light rum and others of colorless ilk). For the next few days we’re giving brown spirits a fair shot at summer (and wish to thank our Kentucky and Tennessee followers for bringing this to our attention). Today’s drink makes a nice under-the-shade-tree sipper. We used Fee Bros. orange bitters.
Bourbon and Blanche
2 ounces bourbon
1/2 ounce white creme de menthe
2 dashes orange bitters
Chilled soda water
Pour all the ingredients over ice into a highball glass. Stir, then top with soda. Garnish with an orange slice.
Tasting notes: Light and refreshing. Barest hint of mint julep.
Tomorrow: Pronto!
