Reunited, K-9 cocktail

It is unusual to bring references to dogs into the world of mixed drinks. What leads us there today is Mission K9 Rescue, a national non-profit organization, which provides placement services for retiring military dogs. We recently learned of their efforts to find adoptions for dogs who served in Iraq and Afghanistan. In some more publicized cases, the organization has been able to reunite the dogs with their former soldier and Marine handlers.

This recipe makes 2 generous human-only servings.

Reunited Reunited vert
4 ounces vodka
2 cups seedless watermelon, cut in 1-inch cubes
1/2 ounce lemon juice
1/2 ounce orange juice
1 ounce agave nectar
6 ice cubes

Put all the ingredients in a blender. Pulse several times and then blend on low for 20 seconds. Pour into a chilled margarita glass. Garnish with a slice of watermelon peel.
