Figure 8, Canadian whiskey cocktail

Here’s a take on an Old-Fashioned using Canadian whiskey (or whisky if you’re north of the border) and Pimm’s gin-based, herb-flavored mix. The grain-based blended spirits from Canada are lighter than bourbons and work easily with a range of mixers.

2 ounces Canadian whiskey
1 ounce Pimm’s No. 1 Cup
Slice of orange
Chilled soda water

Muddle the orange slice and Pimm’s in an Old-Fashioned glass. Add ice cubes and whiskey. Stir. Top with soda water and stir again. Garnish with another orange slice.

Tasting notes: Whiskey leads the cocktail.
