This drink, which means rattle in Spanish, gets its name from the sound made by the ice as the cocktail is shaken. It is best made with white tequila and recipes vary the amounts of pineapple and grenadine. We’ve adjusted to a less sweet mix by reducing the grenadine by half. This tequila cocktail enjoys a surprising popularity in Germany.
Maraca
2 ounces tequila
1/2 ounce lemon juice
2 ounces pineapple juice
1 teaspoon grenadine
Pour all the ingredients into a cocktail shaker half filled with ice. Shake thoroughly for 15 seconds. Strain into a chilled cocktail or margarita glass. Float a thin lemon slice as a garnish.
Tasting notes: Smooth and slightly fruity, the lemon balances natural pineapple and grenadine sweetness.
Tomorrow: Soccer, aka futbol
