This was obviously a drink created on a ferryboat traveling between Ireland and Scotland. And from the spirit proportions, the coast of Scotland must have just come into view. The original recipe has this served in a cocktail glass. We’ve re-calibrated it for an old-fashioned glass.
Celtic Mix
1 1/2 ounce Scotch
1 ounce Irish whiskey
1/2 ounce lemon juice
1 dash Angostura bitters
Pour the ingredients into a cocktail shaker with several ice cubes. Shake vigorously. Strain over ice into an old-fashioned glass. Garnish with a lemon twist.
Tasting notes: Lemon brings out the smokiness of the scotch.
Tomorrow: Purple rain cloud
