The time of year is approaching for many of us to drag on down to the beach for the obligatory vacation of sand and sunburn. Here is something to sip while crouched under the beach umbrella, wondering why you’re there.
1 1/2 ounce bourbon
1/2 dry vermouth
Pour all the ingredients into a mixing glass half filled with cracked ice. Stir for 15 seconds to thoroughly chill. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. For the garnish, twist a narrow wedge of lemon over the drink and drop it into the glass.
For a longer version, strain over a couple of ice cubes in an old fashioned glass and top with some chilled soda.
Tasting notes: Strong and bracing, in the old fashioned tradition.
Tomorrow: Canteloupe, O’ Canteloupe
