Icy Hot, minty cocktail

The slight warming zing in this cocktail is cinnamon and comes from the Goldschläger, a liqueur flecked with tiny bits of gold foil. (Put the strainers away, there’s not enough gold in a bottle to make it worth while.) The Falernum is a rum-based liqueur with vanilla notes. The Icy Hot demonstrates the miracle of a good cocktail, which served cold nevertheless warms the heart and soul, and in this case, the body too.

Icy Hot Icy Hot best vert
1 1/2 ounces light rum
1/4 ounce Falernum liqueur
1/4 ounce Goldschläger

Pour all ingredients into an ice-filled cocktail shaker. Shake vigorously until the shaker is frosty. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with a mint leaf and serve the Icy Hot ice cold.

Tasting notes: Tasty and substantive, before or after dinner. The Goldschläger provides the rich cinnamon-y mouth feel, lifted by the rum and Falernum.
