This is a riff on the Waterbury Cocktail, a tribute to the Connecticut town once home to Timex watches. We’ve called in pisco to replace the original brandy because the rest of the ingredients reminded us of the Pisco Sour. As with many cocktails using egg white, we recommend shaking the ingredients well before adding ice. This helps foam the egg white before the second shaking which chills the drink.
1 1/2 ounce pisco
1/4 ounce lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon simple syrup
1/2 teaspoon grenadine
1 egg white
Place all the ingredients in a cocktail shaker and shake vigorously. Add several ice cubes and shake again to thoroughly chill the drink. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
Tasting notes: A well blended, smooth citrusy finish.
Tomorrow: Mornin’ Noggin’
