Laura, infused cocktail

Today, we use the microwave for a short-cut infusion of bay leaf, orange juice and dry vermouth. Bay leaf? Yes: this spice, most often relegated to flavoring soups and stews, adds an intriguing touch to gin and vermouth. And while this drink is dedicated to all Lauras, we specifically have in mind a singular Laura, who might be tempted to add one more ingredient.

Laura Laura vert
1 large, dried bay leaf
1 ounce orange juice
1 ounce dry vermouth
2 ounces gin

Place bay leaf, juice and vermouth in a microwave-proof dish and cover with plastic wrap. Microwave for 2 minutes. Allow it to cool. Then pour mix and bay leaf into an ice-filled cocktail. Add gin and shake vigorously. Strain into a chilled martini or cocktail glass.
