The original Stinger is a mix of brandy and creme de menthe. It was a prohibition-era concoction designed to disguise poor quality “hooch” passed off as brandy. For this chocolate inspired version, use the white creme de menthe or the drink will have a muddied look.
Chocolate Stinger
1 ounce dark creme de cacao
1 ounce white creme de menthe
Pour ingredients into a mixing glass with 2 or 3 ice cubes, or one extra-large cube as we did in this photo. Stir until frosty. Pour over ice cubes in an old-fashioned glass.
Tasting notes: Pleasing combination of chocolate and mint, with a light mouthfeel. The liqueurs carry the flavors without being too sweet. Perfect as an after dinner or dessert cocktail.
