Long Gone, after dinner cocktail

This falls in the “before or after dinner” drink list, a category suggesting adaptability for the first or last drink of the day. The Drambuie, a scotch-based liqueur, provides a hint of sweetness.

Long Gone Long Gone vert
2 ounces bourbon
1 ounce Drambuie
1 ounce orange juice
Dash of orange bitters

Combine the ingredients in an ice-filled cocktail shaker. Shake vigorously until chilled. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass or short-stemmed aperitif glass. Dress the rim with an orange wedge.

Tasting notes: Rich, with a warm bright clingy aftertaste. Good alone or with a bittersweet bite of dark chocolate.

Tomorrow: Olympic opener and a cowboy mocktail
