Here’s another chance to pull out that bottle of blended scotch. For the fruit component, you’ll want to bring home a white grapefruit, not a red or ruby red one. If you can find it, there’s a variety called cocktail grapefruit that would be ideal for this drink.
Miami Beach
2 ounces scotch
1 1/2 ounces dry vermouth
2 ounces fresh grapefruit juice
Combine all the ingredients in an ice-filled cocktail shaker. Shake until frosty. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass or over ice in an old-fashioned glass. Garnish with a grapefruit peel twist.
Tasting notes: Smokiness of scotch. An appetite builder.
Tomorrow: Before or after dinner.
