Touch Down, Super Bowl cocktail punch

Super Bowl Sunday is a uniquely American celebration, and our original MDC cocktail punch appropriately features a uniquely American liquor first distilled in Monmouth, New Jersey: Laird’s Applejack. If Laird’s is not available. you can substitute another applejack brandy. We’ve served this punch to wide acclaim. Below is the pitcher recipe, serving twelve, and the mocktail instructions.

Touch Down – Serves 12 touchdown vert
1 cup bourbon
1 cup Applejack
4 ounces fresh lime juice
2 ounces fresh lemon juice
1 apple, finely diced
4 cups light ginger ale
Crushed ice

In a large pitcher combine all the ingredients except the ginger ale and ice. Let stand for an hour. To serve, add ginger ale to pitcher and stir several times to combine. Fill old-fashioned glasses with crushed ice and pour 4 ounces of punch in each one. Include some diced apple in each serving.

Mocktail version: Substitute 2 or more cups of unsweetened apple juice for the bourbon and Applejack.

Tasting notes: Terrifically tasty. A great and long-lasting cocktail punch. You’ll look for reasons to make it, even for one.

Tomorrow: Thank you, Russia
