Keystone, cocktail contest entry

This drink is My Daily Cocktails’ entry in the annual San Antonio Cocktail Conference. The recipe includes a custom-made grapefruit-tarragon flavored bitters, developed specifically for the competition. The Canadian whiskey and Lillet Rosé were chosen from the list of ingredients provided by William Grant & Sons, a conference sponsor.

Keystone Keystone best
2 ounces Gibson’s Canadian whiskey
1 ounce Lillet Rose
1/2 teaspoon MDC #1 Bitters
1/2 teaspoon mint syrup
Mint sprigs
Grapefruit wedge

Muddle the mint leaves with bitters, syrup and grapefruit wedge in an old-fashioned glass. Add 3 or 4 ice cubes. Pour whiskey and Lillet over ice cubes. Stir to combine and until chilled. Garnish with a grapefruit twist.

Tasting notes: Complex whiskey flavors layered over mint, grapefruit and rosé wine.
