Moscow Mule, the vodka original

Proving that good things can come from mad men, the Moscow Mule was launched in the United States post World War 11 as part of an advertising campaign for Smirnoff vodka. The Moscow Mule debuted in Los Angeles as a refreshing cocktail with a kick, hence the mule. As with all cocktails, the quality of the ingredients heighten your experience. In this version of the Mule, we use Fever Tree Ginger Beer, which gives earthy, peppery power to the kick. Plenty of other ginger beers are available and are good choices.

Moscow Mule (traditional)
2 ounces vodka
1 whole lime, quartered
Ginger beer

Fill a tall glass or mug with ice. Pour in the vodka, squeeze the lime quarters and add them to the glass. Top with ginger beer and stir to combine.

Tomorrow: Miss Scarlett takes southern comfort in her cocktail.
