This lime and anise tinged cocktail owes its base to the Martini, a traditional drink that — like pizza — has spawned unlimited permutations. The thought here is to jump start the usual suspects of vodka and dry vermouth with a citrus note and the anise tang of Pastis, all designed to wash away the just-past hectic shopping holiday weekend.
1/2 teaspoon Pastis
1 tablespoon lime juice
1 tablespoon dry vermouth
2 ounces vodka
Chill a cocktail glass in the freezer while assembling the drink. Pour all the ingredients into a cocktail shaker loaded with ice and shake well. Pour into the chilled glass and garnish with a lime rind twist.
